Synthesis and processing of improved graphite-molybdenum-titanium composites by colloidal route and spark plasma sintering

نویسندگان

چکیده

Graphite-molybdenum-titanium composites might attract significant interest as heat sinks for different sector applications due to their excellent thermal, electrical and mechanical properties. This type of was already studied but following the powder metallurgy spark plasma sintering (SPS) route. The aim present investigation is study a new route fabrication these improve properties: colloidal synthesis SPS process. results obtained graphite-10 vol% Mo-1 Ti prepared by both routes are compared. It has been proved that properties significantly improved compared with route, i. e. conductivity factor 3, thermal 8 bending strength 4.

Full densification of Molybdenum powders using Spark Plasma Sintering

Pure molybdenum powder was sintered using Spark Plasma Sintering under various temperatures, and holding times, under a pressure of 77 MPa and a heating rate at 700°C/min. After sintering, a carbide layer was observed at the surface. The carbide layer thickness, the relative density of the sample as well as the microhardness and the grain size of Mo were measured. The carbide thickness depends ...

Spark-plasma-sintering (SPS) of nanostructured titanium carbonitride powders

Spark-Plasma-Sintering (SPS) compaction experiments of nanostructured titanium carbonitride powders have been performed at 1600°C and 1800°C (sintering time = 1 min). The as-received nanostructured samples have been synthesized by rapid condensation from the gas-phase (high frequency plasma). The sintering results were compared with data obtained by various conventional sintering techniques suc...

Fabrication of Nanostructured Cu matrix Nanocomposites by High Energy Mechanical Milling and Spark Plasma Sintering

Spark plasma sintering (SPS) is a sintering process that is capable of sintering hard worked powders in short times. This technique was used to fabricate bulk Cu and Cu-SiC nanocomposites. Pure Cu and mixed powders of Cu including 4 vol% of SiC nanoparticles were mechanically alloyed for 25 h and sintered at 750˚C under vacuum condition by SPS method. Microstructures of the materials were chara...

Comparison of Creep Behavior in Alumina Based Ceramics Densified by Spark Plasma Sintering and Hot Pressing

Spark plasma sintering (SPS) method, as plasma activated sintering, is a method applicable for rapid sintering of metals and ceramics. Owing to the advantage of rapid heating, the alumina ceramics obtained by SPS have a grain size and density comparable to those of hot pressed ones. The increase of densification rate may be related to some difference in ion transport characteristics. This study...

Spark Plasma Synthesis (SPS) Device for Sintering of Nanomaterials

It is known that work pieces with nanocrystalline structure condition have much higher performance than those with an ordinary structure. There are known number of techniques for manufacturing of nanocrystalline materials in powder condition however a question of manufacturing bulk pieces in the same nanocrystalline state mentioned is that compaction and synthesizing of nanocrystalline powders ...
